t-DABNA is a DABNA derivative having four bulky tert-butyl side groups. Multiresonance MR-TADF emitter t-DABNA shows a high EQE of 25% and maintains the high efficiency even at high doping concentrations, owing to the intermolecular interaction being suppressed by the bulky tert-butyl group. t-DABNA has a suitable emission spectrum for application as pure blue OLEDs, showing a narrow FWHM of less than 50 nm, a high PLQY of around 90% and a CIEy of 0.07.
t-DABNA emitter, together with 9,10-bis(1-naphtyl)anthracene (α-ADN) host to harvest only singlet excitons, showed high external quantum efficiency of 7.6% as fluorescent emitters and lifetime longer than that of a conventional pyrene derived blue emitter.
Boron-based multiresonance MR-TADF emitters show great application potential in great color purity with narrowband emission and superior photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) coupled with the small singlet–triplet energy splitting.
A planar structure, v-DABNA, is also available in sublimed grade purity.
* Sublimation is a technique used to obtain ultra pure-grade chemicals, see sublimed materials for OLED devices.
