Graphitized Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (G-MWCNT)
raphitized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (G-MWCNT), CAS number 308068-56-6, are multi-walled carbon nanotubes graphitized by annealing under inert gas at high temperatures. The graphitization procedure can remove residual metal catalyst in the nanotubes and reduce the wall defects. High purity over 99.9% can be achieved by the annealing process however the the graphitization process is also known to reduce the specific surface area by half.
Graphitized carbon nanotubes thus can be considered as a new hybrid of graphitic foliates grown along the sidewalls of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The high temperature thermal treatment produces multi-walled carbon nanotubes with the highest graphite crystallization, electrical conductivity, and the best oxidization resistance.
Aluminum-Graphitic MWCNT cell with graphitic MWCNT serves as an active cathode for rechargeable Al-ion battery exhibits good electrochemical performance with a specific capacity of 64 mAh·g-1 at a current density of 200 mA·g-1, and delivers 58 mAh·g-1 with ~100% retention over 1000 cycles. Graphitized carbon nanotubes also finds applications in the following areas:
