PBDTT-DPP is a low band-gap polymer with strong photosensitivity in the range of 650-850 nm, with an onset absorption at 858 nm (Eg = 1.45 eV, near infrared absorption). However, it is less sensitive to visible light in the solar spectrum. For this reason, PBDTT-DPP is an ideal candidate for tandem solar cell structures, having achieved device performances of 8.62% (with device structure ITO/ZnO/P3HT:ICBA/PEDOT:PSS/ZnO/PBDTT-DPP:PC71BM/Ag).
